Y'know, this is the sort of idea that gets around and becomes worse as it does. Next thing you know, French lawmakers will want to give out M. Hollande's sperm, then British lawmakers, not to be left behind by the French, will propose giving out Mr. Cameron's sperm. Germany, led by Angela Merkel, remains safe for the moment. Then, the whole thing will spread to the United States, where all our politicians (not just Mr. Obama)will want to get into the act. Only, they'll want to sell the stuff to fund their 2016 campaigns. Feeling left out (and poor), certain female members of Congress will no doubt push for special research funding that will allow harvesting of their eggs for implantation in other females. Grelber |

I was listening to a story about a genetic researcher who was following the trail of a certain weird trait on the Y (male) chromosome in central Asia. It seemed to be everywhere. They mapped out where they found it, and couldn't figure out why it would be so wide-spread. Then someone's history-major friend looked at the map and noted that it looked like the Mongol empire. Then it hit them – these were all descendants of Ghengis Khan! He was known for having a voracious sexual appetite, and of course always got first choice of the women in any town they conquered. The problem with proving this, of course, is they would need some of Ghengis' DNA, and of course no one has any idea where he's buried. There was some hope of getting his grandson's (Kublai Khan) DNA, but no one knows where he's buried, either. Whoever it was, he is probably the most prolific breeder in history. I was browsing a genealogy book in the remainder bin at a bookstore. It had a link between Queen Elizabeth and Ghengis Khan. All royalty, of course. Nothing common! It reminded me of a conversation between Itzak Kutebar and our beloved Flashman. "Does Vik-Taria lead raids and skirmishes and plan stratagems?" |
