I've finally got round to sorting out the photos from a Hammer's Slammers game I played about four months ago. The game was a lot of fun, although I did get absolutely stuffed… You can find it on my blog – link Here are a couple of samples to whet your appetites …

I love those infantry bases but they are only EU friendly… I don't know where to get something similar in the US, for example for US penny sized washers :( … great pictures |
Tony Francis | 05 Nov 2014 12:20 p.m. PST |
seldonH – an M8 washer is pretty much the same size as a one euro-cent coin, any 15mm/16mm diameter washer would work in them. |

Pretty much, but that millimeter could make the difference… Do you have any US pennies lying around to post a picture… does anyone sell those in the US.. I've been looking at them in your website for a while now and they simply look great, I'm just trying to decide if I take the chance of ordering without being able to test if it works. I have most of my 15s based on these washers.. they are 19mm in diameter … cheers Francisco |

On eBay.com I found these: auction The M8 washer is listed as being 16mm diameter, which compares to a eurocent coin at 16.25mm – the holes in my bases are 18mm, so they should work perfectly. Although you might want to find somewhere to buy them in larger quantities, these look pretty expensive. |

I have some of the Brigade bases and tried a few options. US Pennies were too large, #10 washers were too small and ultimately I found that 1/4" SAE flat washers work well. According to this random sizing chart I found, 1/4" SAE flat washers should have an outer diameter of around 16mm. Also note that if you accidently get the USS/non-SAE 1/4" size, they may be too large. link |

Great work and I like the 'through the grove'shots. |

Tony Just a thought: when you sell the bases, add the right number of 1 euro cent (or UK penny – whichever's the cheapest!) with the bases for overseas customers. OK, if they already have their figures based, that may not help. But it's a start… John T PS – Tony, thanks for the offer but I'll work with the shots you have up so far unless I want to do selective blow ups then I'll ask for bigger ones. |

John, that is a brilliant simple solution… hopefully big brother won't come after him for money laundering :) Does any US dsitrib carry them ? … Zematus, very good info. Clearly I have the US, not the SAE, mine are in the 19mm diam, At least going forward I'll try to get the SAE .3125 that one appears to be 17.7 which would match the brigade bases.. Unfortunately it looks like my current over 100 15mm guys already base will have to keep looking for someone doing something like the brigade bases for 20mm :) thanks for your help with this… Francisco |

Tony Re-use of your pics as discussed in the thread earlier link Thanks for that. I have to say that, reading through your report, allowing that many blower tanks and combat cars the Field Mechanic Elite Skill (as you appear to have done) – meaning that they could repair non-destructive damage on a quality roll… – well, you have a tough time beating Elite units with an even force. Like in the books, Elite Slammers units (so ones with Elite Skills) tend to cut a swathe through most things… When I play an Elite detachment of (granted uparmoured) blowers – at least half the size of the one your mate Dave was feilding) as I have done recently (like here link with a standard unit as well) it generally gets outnumbered about three to one… My suggestion is to use the points costs – especially the costing of Elite Sills in Supplement 5 PDF link – and aim for a balance (scenario dependent, obviously!) John – firstly, pics look good, would be great if you could credit Maidstone Wargames Society as it was played at that club. We didn't have field repairs on the day – I only mentioned that since the Slammers won the battle, and they'd be able to repair the damaged tanks pretty soon afterwards. None of them were repaired during the game. I realised soon after we started that the forces were way out in terms of relative strengths, must paint some more TAS tanks to rectify this ! As for the bases/coins thing – I can't supply euro-coins since I don't have a ready supply, just a cache for my own use. They apparently are hard to come by even on the continent unless you order from a bank (which is what someone did for me a couple of years ago). However, I have found a good source of appropriately sized washers, so once I've organised photos etc I'll add those to the website (we can't give them away but we'll be selling at considerably less than the DIY store I went to earlier today). |

If anyone interested, I can laser cut some 16mm round bases out of 2mm MDF if wanted (and cheaply), must have another ago at lasering 1mm plasticard. Regards MMG.

Tony I'll stick a credit on the page over the weekend if I get the chance – no probs. Email me with any details (other club members names, links etc) that you want included on that page as well. John T |

Back to the 16mm washer base issue has anyone thought of using 16mm counters and drill a hole in the center were you want to place the earth magnet. The reason i mention the tiddly winks counters is that you can buy them in bulk on e-bay £2.14 GBP for 100 counters with free postage world wide seems like a good deal to me. auction |
