I've been painting up some polystyrene balls as planets for Full Thrust and X-wing, and these are the first trials. The question is, what next? Any suggestions on other planet types, bearing in mind my complete lack of skill, or improvements to these three are greatly welcomed!

They look great, actually. The Jovian one in particular.

For other types, you could do variations on the blue white terrestrial one with different colours? Have a look at "Star Trek Remastered" images to see how many color variations they used for 'Class M' worlds.

Other gas giant types like Uranus and Neptune would many be one main color with wisps of greys or white?

I've seen variations on Io, i.e. lava worlds, with browns and blacks broken up with viens of yellow/orange/red.

And finally, love the Mayan crop circle design! :)

Love the gas giant!

Assuming that the blue&white is supposed to be an Earth-like planet, less cloud cover would be a good idea.

I agree they look fantastic

You could do an Earth-type that has a day side (greens, blues, whites) and a night side (black, with patterns of yellow specks to indicate city lights and whatnot).

And give yourself more credit! Those look really good!

Very nice looking planets.

Cratered moons would be another option.

Amazing looking planets. Pssshshh. skills seem tops to me.

Are those styrofoam or smooth plastic spheres?

Cheers for all the feed back guys, much appreciated. They're styrofoam balls covered in a couple layers of watered down PVA to get rid of the texture and give a smoother finish, as well as hopefully making them a bit more resilient to damage. Once they're done all probably put a few coats over the paint as well to protect them. I've made a few more, based off of the suggestions I've had:

Very nicely done.

Blooming heck, you've been busy the last two days! :)
