I've got a Cannon PIXMA MG 5400 all in one that's runing out of ink. I used to refill the carts and just put them back in. It seem you now need to re set a chip or something. I've heard that you can buy a chip re setter on ebay or elsewhere on the net.
I've got the inks but I may need some of those plugs to recap the carts. Where are they available?
Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks. |

just easier to buy ink on ebay from china for a couple bucks a cart. |

I assume this is a new printer? I would worry if your old printer was suddenly asking you for this. I stopped using Canons because waste ink went to an unreachable chamber somewhere that you couldn't empty – when it was full, the printer was useless. Meanwhile, try this seller on ebay. auction |

Some shops do cartridge refills & reset the chip at same time, need to do a bit of google-fu. There are reset chips & external high capacity tank for MG5400 on EBay:
