I've bought lots of LBMS shield transfers and shields over the years, and have been very happy with them. And I will buy more.

But their peltast transfers are not worth buying for the simple fact that they don't fit. The actual shields all have rims, and the transfers do not take this into account ( as is the case with some of their other products).

You have to trim about 1 – 1.5 mm off each transfer, which is VERY annoying.

I used (with difficulty) LBMS shield transfers on Wargame Factory Romans – although most of them reached at least partly its goal, I was not happy with them.
Now I have bought three Victrix boxes of Romans for the Punic Wars, which included LBMS shield transfers. After two attempts I have given up.
Do not misunderstand: the LBMS shield transfers are by far the best I have seen, the problem however is that I am too clumsy to put them right. So if anyone can suggest a producer of waterslide shield decals (the kind I have used for years) to fit on the Victrix Republican Romans I would be very happy.

You are applying the transfers to the wrong side of the shields. The rim as you call it is actually the back of the shield, it is the leather folded over the back and then tacked into place, hence the studs on the back of the shield.

All images of the figures on our website and the box show them with the shields the right way around.

Apply the transfers to the flat front and they work as they were designed to.

A picture paints a thousand words so they say so have a look at the image form the homepage. Note the shields have flat fronts facing.

Try doing it in 15mm.
Steve, I just used some of your Khurasan 15mm Byzantine cavalry shields on some Essex figures. Once I'd trimmed off the 'hook' of the teardrop they turned out brilliantly

Having just recently receiving my Republic roman shield transfer for Victrix. I not had a problem putting the transfers on the shield. Same goes for the Warlord Republican Romans and Imperial Romans.

I found painting the shield gloss white really helps. Yes I had a few problems in the being. Now I apply the transfer on the shield near the center boss. That add a few drop of water on the transfer water. Than press the transfer down as soon as the water is soak. No problem. But if you apply to much water. The transfer will not stick. I have picture on my blog. Tonight I just finished apply 16 transfers with no problems.

Good luck.
