Ok, I spent the better part of two days assembling the Robotech Kickstarter mechs and all I can say is: it's an absolute bitch!

For example; roughly square legs should not be two parts, wings could be part of the veritech fighter hull top, etc. back in the day I think Ral Partha did the Rifleman in four parts, now the arm alone has 3! In 1/285 scale.

I have no idea what they were thinking. I had heard a rumor they did the plastic tooling on the cheap. Perhaps, I know Battlefront can do an entire 15mm figure in one piece.

The models are a kit builders Bleeped text but you better have "born to model" tatooed on your arm. The detail is excellent except for the details that get lost when you try and glue a 3 part head together witth plastic cement covering your fingers.

Luckily you need only 12 models or so for an army. After a while the painful memory of building will be replaced by loving joy of your army!

IIRC, the original Rifleman was five parts (upper & lower torso, left & right arm, and radar-thingy. I think I still have the upper torso in my bits box.

But, yes, I feel your pain! Maybe they're trying to keep you indoors and out of trouble. And graham crackers just aren't doing the trick anymore…

We're always looking for innovative new ways to keep gamers from spray painting trains.

A lot of non-miniatures gamers bought into that kickstarter, there must be a lot of angst out there at the moment (wait for the great deals on eBay).

Palladium claimed they had to do so many pieces to get the detail, but IMO all the mold lines detract from the look more than some missing detail.

Catalyst Game Labs "premium plastic" mechs are far better done on a fraction of the budget Palladium had.

I regret buying into this KS already and I haven't yet received my models (AKA my sentence).

Is it true that there is an "I'm with stupid -->" T-shirt in the box, to be worn by the person standing next to you?

I, too, bet that a lot of these boxes get dumped. I wonder if it will kill the game.

Perhaps there is a market for a quick KS with card models that slot together in a + (so it can stand up) with the finished models picture displayed on the card.

I didn't like building the original plastic models these are based on, when I was stationed in Japan in the 80s, because they were too fiddly…
