Anyone know where to get a copy? My internet search failed to find an available copy.

Accepting ideas on how to get one.

I thought Communist Monopoly was long OOP. I thought Oligarch Monopoly was the current version.

We've just had a local edition released that replaces London and New York with our fair city of bistros and boutiques (formerly churches).

I hear the replay value is low. Only four spaces: Gulag, Gazprom, Collective Farm #10 and Sochi. The bankers hold all the money, make all the distribution decisions, roll the dice, which are both D6s with ones on all sides, and convince the players that they didn't really roll doubles. Only one set of red cards named Communityism Chest.

Isn't that another oxy-moron?

The problem is that in Communist-governed states the state is a monopoly so the game sequence must be:
1. Roll dice.
2. Get:
A. Shot
B. Sent to labour camp
C. Sent for re-education
3. Join bread queue.
4. Game ends

Is that the game where whenever anyone lands on a space, everyone pays the comrade banker? The last person with any money is shot a dawn.

Given that Monopoly was originally an indictment of capitalism, it could be argued that regular Monopoly IS communist monopoly.

Fergal01 Nov 2014 9:29 p.m. PST

Most of these examples would only make sense if in real monopoly:

-the player with the wealthiest parents received 4 times the starting cash as everyone else, and never had to follow the rules on the 'go to jail' card, if they ever ran out of money, they could just ask mom and dad for more
-all minority players could only purchase the blue and green properties if they rolled a 1 on a d6 and they'd never be able to put houses there

just for starters

that's just for starters…

If that was its intent them it can be considered a failure. grin

Weasel03 Nov 2014 7:59 p.m. PST

Not a failure (the analysis is pretty apt, as far as a board game could be, for the time it was made) but irony certainly.
