I just got my first rewards from the Robotech Kickstarter and have started building the models. They're not awful, but they're not amazing. More on my blog:

Good info. though 20 pieces to a game pieces seems a bit much

It looks like the defender's guns a re oriented wrong. Aren't the barrels supposed to be over/under and not side to side?

Mako1131 Oct 2014 5:30 p.m. PST

Wow, I must say I much prefer the original, single-piece metal castings to those.

I wish I'd considered the number of parts before I backed this KS.

This is the rare "Roe Needed a Nap" variant. Hopefully they'll allow it in tournaments.

In general don't mind multipart assembly, and I like the many options for customization. However the more reviews I read of these figs, the more I'm glad I didn't pledge.

Palladium.

That is all I needed to know to not pledge.

I put together my first set of three battlepods last night.

They were pretty easy. The only tricky part was realizing that a specific pair of feet goes with each pair of legs. Otherwise, assembly was easy and intuitive, and the finished models look great.

Dear god, I'll stick with my one-piece Battletech pieces for now. I'd love a couple to use as 'reseen' but I think I'm content to wait!

Yeah, I also wish these had like 1/2 the parts and would willingly accept 1/2 the poseability to get to that # of parts.

The thing is, most of those parts don't buy you any extra posability. The lower leg is in two halfs, for example. They only go together one way and don't allow any special extra articulation of the knee or ankle joint. AFAIK, the main driving force for so many parts was not posability, it was Harmony Gold's unreasonable demainds for scale model level detail and accuracy in gaming pieces.

I talked with the owner of a local shop yesterday. He had ordered a few (and still waiting) and now has serious second thoughts about carrying the line after he saw pictures of the sprues. He didn't think he could sell them based on the needed assembly and the size of the parts.

Hindsight truly has 20/20 vision, too bad I didn't buy more from FASA back in the day :( .

Andrew Carter did a review of almost every single sprue and mini assembling. I'll post a link when he has it up.

And Ninja's and Palladium's inability to use sliding molds…

I really want my models now… ;-)

I've been loving the models. If anyone has any they'd like to sell please contact me. I am willing to pay $5 USD per destroid.
