I've purchased a few 20mm models already assembled; Some being PAK-40's and Anti-Aircraft guns but the pieces can move( the PAK's gun moves up and down and the Anit-Aircraft moves from side to side) so I don't want to spray paint black primmer so can I use brush on primmer? Is it any good?

It certainly has worked for me

My workshop is in the basement and in the winter I don't like to use my usual place to spray prime – the garage, which gets pretty cold – so I brush on primer a lot; you need a little more attention to detail than with the spray, but it is OK by me

I will never spray black primer again after I found Vallejo surface primer 73.602, wich can be used for airbrush as well as brush. Incredibly good…. Idon't own an airbrush …

I have had the same experience as BelgianRay, The Vallego black and grey airbrush primers work really well when brushed on.

I use Black Primer anytime I'm dealing with a small number of figures or figs that aren't suited for spray. Specifically I use Liquitex Black Gesso. Cheap, effective and great tooth. It shrinks as it dries so you can slap it on and it won't mess up detail.

I started using Liquitex Black Gesso after reading about it here. As Ordinarybass says it's brilliant, the most effective black undercoat I've found.

Black gesso is the way to go for black primer. I mostly use white gesso, but have the black as well for when the occasion rises.

For those who want to use WHITE pimer, I would like to tell you the following: I also use Vallejo SURFACE PRIMER 73.600 White. When you first brush it on it will look awfull compared to the black, but…. leave it overnight and you will be glad you did. No more aircans for me, and by the way, thank you Wargamer Blue for pointing me to the grey.
