War Wizard: They are only there this year to mark the Centenary of the start of the Great War. They will be removed after the 11th November.

Be nice if they did it every year but 888,246 indvidual Poppies is kind of a big ask!

I went today. The visiting crowd was massive.

I think if it were to be done every year the feeling of an important event would be lost.

When we visited there was a a party of French school children there asking Brits to read one of the war poems whilst they recorded it.

This is a very evocative and moving concept. I applaud the person who came up with this way of honoring the dead.

They are all ceramic, and are being sold off at £25.00 GBP per item for relevant charity.
Volunteers from all service arms are involved after 11th November in the removal and packing process.
The guy who makes them lost a finger and damaged another in machinery whilst producing them.

"I went today. The visiting crowd was massive."

It's school half-term holiday this week in UK and the weather has been largely very good; the City has been awash with kids these last few days.

I work by the Monument and plan to visit the Tower one lunch hour next week when they're all back at school.
