I picked up a copy of "Engage" from Red Wyvern Games when I was at Blast-tastic a few weeks ago. I finally managed to give them a spin at the Berkeley Vale club in Slimbridge last night. I've put a short write up on my blog. link Our impressions were generally very good. A few areas where we might tweak them, and plenty of scope for house ruling. They certainly have a very strong Star Trek feel to them! |

I picked up a copy but haven't had chance to try them out yet – I thought they might be a good compromise between my love of Federation Commander and the detail of controlling one ship and one of my opponents desire to use all 40 of his ship models in one fleet! Mike |

I picked them up as a pdf a few months ago following a recommendation here – I really like them for a straightforward set of ST rules. I statted up all the ships I have to TOS/movie standards with them over the course of a couple of evenings. I also statted up a few of Studio Bergstrom's fancier ST-like models as Enterprise-C era ships. |

Must give high marks for clarity of description of combat by Red Wyvern; would have liked a bit more about movement, but still more informative than a lot of game sites. Small quibble about 'pre-planned movement found in many other spaceship games' which is common, but not the majority of games I see. Care to expand on movement in the game? Thanks! Doug |

Movement is dead simple. 1" per point of power allocated to impulse engines (basic power plus any auxiliary power added, less damage effects) with a single 45 degree turn allowed at any point in the move (possible house rule – more manoeuvrable ships could turn tighter?) You also have the option to use warp drive – move 12" per point of power allocated – but you can only move in multiples of 12" and it affects your sensors so firing is less accurate afterwards. |

Might get a set of these rules. I got 'Star Trek Federation Commander' with a dozen Federation and a dozen Klingon ships and have been looking for a reasonable set of rules to try them in a more tactical battle with. I did try Star Trek Attack Wing but thought it was a bit pants. |

Thanks, Mr. Manley! Doesn't sound like it will replace my first love, but does sound right proper for a fair number of pieces. I did try Star Trek Attack Wing but thought it was a bit pants. I liked the general idea, but with two of three ships in the original box having the wing over, my ardor cooled. I tend to think of it as the opposite of the things Engage! is trying to do. Not in game mechanics or scale, but the idea of large scale maneuver, and what I named my bagatelle 'Battle Pass'. Doug |

@ The Beast What did you mean about Attack Wing when you mentioned that two of the three ships 'having the wing over'? Decided that, for a tenner, these rules might be worth a punt. Got them yesterday, and that is a nicely presented set of rules. Still to give them a full read thru, but excellent first impression. @boy wundyr x Care to share a link to your stats? |

Are these rules PDF only? I do not see options for print or PDF on their site. In fact it does not specify which format it is in. -Eli |

Nevermind. It seems the issue was with the mobile version of the site. The full site gave the needed info. Pdf purchased. -Eli |
