"Estonia has summoned the Russian ambassador after a Russian spy plane entered the Baltic country's airspace without permission. A spokeswoman for the Estonian Foreign Ministry said the Baltic country considers the violation serious and "demands an explanation" from the ambassador. The spokeswoman said Estonia wants to know why a Russian Ilyushin-20 surveillance aircraft crossed into its airspace Tuesday afternoon. NATO says the Russian aircraft was in Estonian airspace for about a minute…"

No doubt the crew are probably just lost, while searching for some place nice to vacation. |

Is this something that happens all the time but they are only choosing to report it now? Without statistics how can we judge the seriousness of these incursions? V O A – Voice of America News? Off topic – once I saw a program about Estonia where the minority Russians were complaining that since the SU broke up they were treated as second class citizens. During this monologue they showed a theater play rehearsal by ethnic Russian Estonian. I've never seen such beautiful women before or since. I wonder if the Russians brought them in for propaganda. |

It's time for these "little" nations to start shooting things down and depth charging things that violate their territories, if only to give Ultramodern denizens the scenario fodder they crave. I mean, that IS the function of Ultramodern, hainna? Surely it is not Dawghouse bait? |

Some statistics have been provided in other postings, for various nations, e.g. none, or just a handful of overflights, to a sharp spike in them now, e.g. anywhere from 5 – 50x the normal rate. |

The programme you saw was/is* correct under Estonia law to be Estonian your grandparents had to be born in Estonia most of the Russian minority moved there in the 60s when the Soviets invested in the industry in Estonia. They could either take Russian citizenship or have a "grey" passport which restricted movement, etc they tend to get the low pay jobs and Soviet war memorials have been moved to out of the way places or destroyed. *I lasted visited in 2007 at the time the EU was putting pressure on the Estonia Government to change the law. BTW the girls wouldn't have been brought in for propaganda you have a hard time finding an ugly women in Estonia (ethnic Russian or otherwise) |

It's time for these "little" nations to start shooting things down and depth charging things that violate their territories Shoot/depth charge with what? I don't think AKMs and RPGs are very good at AA or ASW. Oh and would it be ok if "little" nations shot down American aircraft doing the same? I'm surprised Estonia got into EU with it's quite repressive policies against ethnic Russians. I wouldn't be surprised if one day they start agitating for an Independent People's Republic with some balacava wearing "locals" being the main agitators. |
