I gamed Battletech in the late 80's into early 90's, but due to kids coming along and other job related issues I stopped. Now that the kids are out of the house I figured I would dust off what I have and replace what was lost over the years. I now notice that the Clans have regular infantry in a "Point" of 25 men. When I gamed the Clans only had Elementals in a point of five Elementals. So my question is, what are the weapon's mixes of these new 25 men points? When did the Clans supposedly go with regular infantry? What figs should I get to use for them? Thanks for your help in advance and I look forward to your replies.

I think in depends, but basically they could be like regular infantry…

The Elementals are still the "primary" Clan infantry, as well as a number of variant battle armored infantry. It has to do with "when" you are gaming…. 3055 or 3085 or whatever.

Front-Line units would only have Elementals I guess, but for the countless second-line garrison troops things are different. Some backwater planet might have a trinary of refurbished IS mechs or, if they're lucky, even "proper" second-line non-Omni mechs. Add to that a wide assortment of whatever is at hand, including vehicles, and also regular infantry armed with nothing more than rifles and other small arms.

Of course, there are always the Solamna units of disgraced, old warriors who end up in a platoon of badly equipped infantry sent to do suicide mission so they can at least die in battle like a warrior should.

The only clan that used regular infantry in front line clusters was Clan Hell's Horses and even then it was not the clusters in the main combat Galaxies of Alpha and Omega.

A typical frontline mixed Trinary for them was a Mech star of 5 mechs, a vehicle star of 10 vehicles and an infantry star of either 25 elemental a or 125 basic infantry.
