Do you like lots of variety in the poses and/or equipment carried by your miniature armies?

(a) Yes, the more variation, the better.
(b) Yes, but only a few variations are necessary.
(c) No, I like them all to look identical.

a, but I would feel different if I were doing Napoleonics, instead of Vikings, Gauls, and Medievals.

Come to think of it, when I was doing Colonials, I would have gone with b, and maybe even one or two units of c.

I once put on an FIW skirmish game that had 25 different manufacturers in it.
I guess that's an "a".

"A"

Martin Rapier20 Oct 2014 11:05 p.m. PST

C for pre twentieth century, B for twentieth century onwards.

Dicymick21 Oct 2014 4:19 a.m. PST

C. Depends on the scale and period.

Not C
B for formed troops but I always like at least an awkward 'character' in the formation (foundry did some good good ones)
A for skirmish games and anything fantasy with the word 'Chaos' in the title.

a. Who woulda thunk it?

Old Contemptibles21 Oct 2014 3:52 p.m. PST

It depends on the period and figure scale.

A for 15mm ACW, FPW.

A for 25mm Second Boer War

B for 15mm and 25mm Napoleonics

B for 25mm AWI Regulars

A or B for 25mm AWI Loyalist Militia or Rebel Militia

For most Ancients I like the same figure for ranks but will vary for files.

As combat formations get more free-form, whether by function or time period, I am inclined toward more varied poses.
