Thinking of these rules as a possible adaptation to VSF. How do they play? Likes and dislikes appreciated. |

I have the rules and two faction boxes, but have yet to play. I have a couple of models painted, but have back-burnered the project til early next year. It look interesting, and am looking forward to making scenery, mostly comprised of aquarium plants & toys. |

Have the Shadowsea rules and some figures and am waiting on the Deep Wars rules and faction boxes from the latest kickstarter to arrive. So I too, have not played. Here's a link a detailed review at BoardgameGeek. |

Our group played them when they first came out and enjoyed them. Deep Wars is supposed to take place under water so there are some special rules for that. You would probably be better off with Shadowsea because it's more land-based. Both games are based on the Song of Blades and Heroes system which is simple and fast with enough model characteristics to differentiate your various forces. You can check a quick start set of rules here: PDF link It's a very quick system to pick up. My quibble- and it's just personal- is that, ordinarily, a single figure cannot kill another figure in a single attack. That said, the system has many supplements to suit many periods.
