Another thread got me thinking – which of the two is more evil? Or how about their respective number ones? Vader of Nazgul Lord? |

One was limited to a planet, the other a galaxy…nuff said! P. |

redmist1122, I'd argue that……Nazgul, and Sauron, were also present in the higher realms, and even threatened the Valar. Also, Vader was too conflicted and in the end gave in to the good in him. Sauron was never so and the Nazgul certainly weren't. |

This is an interesting comparison. When looking at Sauron's origins, you find out that he was created to be the second most powerful being in Tolkein's world. He is tasked with keeping order, and goes "evil" because he is devoted to order. With Palpatine, he is dedicated to maintaining power. However, his subordinates (Men like Tarkin, Gilad Pelleaon, and other Imperial officers) are dedicated to maintaining order as well. They are trying to keep the galaxy together, and keep it from sliding into chaos. I think that Palpatine would be much more "evil" than Sauron, because Palpatine is out to increase his power, whereas Sauron is just trying to "do his job," but to an extreme. HOWEVER, I do think Sauron would mop the floor with Palpatine in a 1v1 fight. BUT if the Nazgul cannot be killed by man, does that mean Vader can kill them? Obi-Wan's Force Spirit does say "He's more machine now than man." Does that give him the ability to "kill" Nazgul? |

Both were defeated by little people (OK, Ewoks are not exactly people but then again neither are hobbits), never thought of that before. |

An interesting debate but not nearly as important as; who is more evil Morgoth or Jar Jar Binks? |
