If it please the Court, M'Lord, the Defense shall forthwith provide ample evidence of Tango01's provision of great and detailed information on the aforementioned new game in a milieu irresistible to the deceased and ergo bears the brunt of the accountability for why the wife of etotheipi, may he rest in pieces, eviscerated him into itty-bitty chunks in a fit of righteous budget responsibility while they were moving from one house to another … |

Did Tango crosspost this to VSF because the game's called Crossfire and the cover pic's sort of murky browns and golds, kinda like lots of steampunk art? Or…can one ever divine the mind of the One known as Tango? |

Um… isn't Shadowrun more cyberpunk/fantasy than steampunk? |

I agree that Shadowrun isn't steampunk/VSF. It is definitively cyberpunk/fantasy meld. However, this bit of cyberpunk has a close kinship with a big swath of steampunk in the form of "makerpunk". Makerpunk is where the goal is for amateur professionals (highly skilled people who are not part of "the institution") to improvise solutions with various bits and bobs in very creative ways. Certianly not all steampunk is like that, but it is a very distinct motif. So I would say, while SR isn't VSF/steampunk, it has a strong enough kinship to be mentioned here. BTW, SR is pretty much the reason I ever looked at any steampunk. |

Thanks for the clarification, E. 'Makerpunk' is news to me – a real niche subgenre if ever there was one! Somehow, I suspect that our good friend Tango wasn't aware of such subtleties, and was simply confusing steampunk with cyberpunk…all of these 'punk's seem a long way indeed from 70's punk, and indeed from what Elizabethans defined as punks! |
