Very nice! I really like those camo helmets!

What figs are these?

cameronian16 Oct 2014 7:44 a.m. PST

Thank you. They are Italeri 'American Infantry' 6046, army not marines. I reckon at this scale with the appropriate paint scheme there isn't much difference. There are some Mars figures as well from the 'US Infantry with 37mm gun' set (a bit more poetic licence needed with these). The mortars are smaller than the Italeri ones so between the two sets a weapons company is possible.

It is probably a bit late to mention, but Revell makes an interesting set of actual Marine infantry:

They don't come up with any MGs or mortars though, and M1 carbines are quite abundant.

Yup, those are all the reasons I didn't use it. It's sad but there just isn't a decent set of Marines on the market. Now if PSC did them the same as with their Russians, etc. it would be a different story. Then again, European theatre or should I say Wehrmacht seems to rule.

Waterloo 1815 do a USMC set with some nice, useful figures link

cameronian02 Nov 2014 3:48 p.m. PST

Yeah number4 there's a couple of useful figures there. Their mortar however is as poor as the Italeri example but at least Waterloo got the base plate the right way round.

Yes it is – and the .30 LMG is even worse!

I use mine for Korea, turning the gun the right way around and using the prone BAR man to fire it. His BAR loses the bipod and gets swapped with the flame thrower or kneeling rifleman to vary the poses a bit.

Get rid of the mortar and the operator makes a good bazooka loader.
