Has anyone played and reviewed these? Not that I haven't been buying Todd's rules for many years, but I would like some idea of what is involved here. I wasn't sure where to place this post. We really need an Age of Sail forum. I crossposted it to the Napoleonic naval board. Close enough I guess. |

You can see the ship status display here in the full sized preview. I am sure it will be a fun game. PDF link Sorry, that's the best I can offer at this time. |

I saw that. Doesn't really give you any idea of what is going on. As a matter of fact, I didn't understand it. A fifth rate navy transport with 30 guns. Wouldn't a ship being used as a transport be running en flute? So, not enough information to even know what questions to ask. |

I'll be giving these a good long look as part of a survey of rule sets that can be used to fight naval battles in the mid-eighteenth century, to be included in an upcoming issue of The Journal of the Seven Years War Association. I'll get back to you when I've spent some time with them. Wouldn't a ship being used as a transport be running en flute? En flute could describe a ship which was only partially disarmed. Occasionally a single deck (roughly 26 to 30 guns, depending on the vessel) was left armed, especially early in the century or on foreign stations where the potential consequences of being separated from the fleet were more dire. We really need an Age of Sail forum. No kidding. |

War Atrizan. I would love to see your survey. I own at played at least a half a dozen rule sets and am curious how you plan to present your survey. Like you ships. Bought your Anglo Dutch range and built two so far in 1/1200. Look great. |

1/1200?? That I would like to see. How about some photos Dan? |

I too would like to see the results of the survey. As well as more ships from War Artisan's Workshop… |

Hope it's better than Kershner's Warfare in the Age of Reason! More holes in that than in lace curtains! |

an upcoming issue of The Journal of the Seven Years War Association. Really? Is there still a Journal being published? Since when? Where? |
War Artisan | 15 Oct 2014 11:00 a.m. PST |
Not so much "still" as "again". The Journal lapsed for awhile after the untimely and much-lamented demise of its previous editor, Jim Mitchell. It was quietly revived last year, and is now in the capable hands of the new editor, James McIntyre. sevenyearswarassn.org |

I should take this opportunity to point out that those who have questions or issues with this set of rules, or who simply enjoy harassing rules authors, might want to show up for next year's Seven Years War Association convention since both Tod and Dale attend with alarming regularity. They might even run a game of "Warfare at Sea in the Age of Reason". The newly released 2015 convention flyer: PDF link |
