I played RAW. A friend of mine used to to game reviews. It's been a while (we played it when it was brand new), but overall I felt it was very much a static game, poorly thought out, etc. The ship models were fairly nice, though, but the rules were not very good at all.

Damon.

anyone have a good source for these ships?

I used the Miniature Market and ebay to get my ships…

Miniature market still has some:

The basic rules were pretty lame, I suggest you try G.O.B.S. or FT and just use the models.

(If they had used the same mechanics as the Axis and Allies Naval rules? that might have made an ok game)

The Original WOTC game is just too abstract IMHO ….

I'd say it isn't worth wasting your time on the "official" rules. They are too abstract and some of the rules just rub me the wrong way. No weapon ranges, capital ships main weapons being able to target fighters, because of unlimited range there really is no point in moving which means no real strategy, etc…

I'm sure you can find a much better set of rules to spend your time on.
