"The HMS Thunderchild was featured in H.G.Wells 1898 novel "War of the Worlds". During the conflict with the martians, it managed to successfully destroy two martian tripods in Tillingham Bay. It was however at great cost; the vessel, under the fire of Heat-Rays, rammed the tripods resulting in the catastophic explosion of its boilers. All crewmembers were lost.

This model was constructed as an radio controled boat. Although 95% of this model is cardboard, it's water tight and has a fair turn of speed. Everything but the R/C gear motor and batteries is cardboard"

And here I was thinking of the Thunder child song from Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds", album.

I also thought of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. Have it in my phone, listen to it at least twice a week! Also have the DVD and it truly is a must-have if you like the album.

Okay, WHAT, or should I say WHICH DVD?

It's the DVD of the concert performance – from about 6 years ago (?).

There is a large featureless head suspended above the stage with Richard Burton's face projected on to it – it perhaps sounds a bit naff, but it wasn't.

The performance I saw was in Brighton and it was superb.

Don't know the music connection, but the model is great!

Glad you like it my friend.

Where can I buy this model? I've got 4 of the old HG Walls Martian Tripods, 300+ Charles Stadden British Infantry plus Arty, and would like to put on a dual game…on land and on sea. Would love to pick up 4-6 MORE tripod models if anyone wants to get them out of their "going to do them someday box".
Please contact me via PM or via pilum40@sbcglobal.net

Thanks!
