…Sagaie 4x4 armoured from Boko Haram militants.

"The Nigerian army has announced that it captured from Boko Haram Islamist militants a a Soviet-made T-55 main battle tank (MBT) and a French-made 4x4 reconnaissance armored vehicle ERC-90 Sagaie during a battle near the town of Konduga in Borno state.

This indicates that Boko Haram has tanks and armored personnel carriers and is growing in military strength.

The tank and reconnaissance vehicle were seized from the insurgents after a fierce battle in which soldiers killed more than 100 Boko Haram terrorists. Some 15 Nigerian soldiers were also killed during the firefight that lasted several hours…"

So, if you are going to wargame this conflict, take note that the Boko Haram has tanks.

It would be interesting to see where the tank and recon vehicle came from before Boko Harum got them…
Did Nigerians sell them?
Where they disgruntled Nigerians who gave them …
Or as is also said, they were lost during fighting BH by Nigerian forces who ran from the battlefield?
Thanks Armand

The article doesn't state whether either was working. One wonders if hatred of 'Western Education' includes engineering and maintenance training.

I'm nicking that camo scheme for my AK47 army. Is it a Nigerian scheme or a Boko Haram effort?

But curious monkeys will pay as they say.
That camo is cool too

Why do we call forces that operate heavy armour terrorists?

It's like IS – they actually have a fully functioning state aparatus that is more effective in controlling the masses than many legitimate Arab governments.

Not a nice government but then neither are any of the Arab ones.

Boko Haram aren't in the same aera as dash/I(bli)S nor do they have a structure as develloped as them , so they still belong to guerilla figthers sheme rather then state sheme as emmerging former one do even through they claimed aswell becoming an empire (caliphat).

And they belong to a way quite different culture aswell , be it on military or lifestyle ways.

otherwise recon' site do show that the light one might basicaly come from the own stock of nigerian army ( maybe they recovered one of theirs ?).

on the other hand the T-55 MBT shouldn't be easily aviable to them , as closer 'legual' owners would be Algeria , Sudan, Lybia , Morroco , Uganda or Ethiopia . All of which are quite away from both Boko Haram teritories and nigerian bounduaries.

This leave a few questions on how they managed to get it there whithout French and US catch.

I know i'm a few years late on this. The Nigerian army has both the T-55 and the ERC-90 in their stocks. Most likely Boko Haram must have captured them.
