British TMPers of a certain age can look back at all our yesterdays with this range of miniatures from British TV.

I was previously unaware of the figures and of Robert Harrop so maybe there are others out there likewise in the dark.

The young lad in green is reminiscent of General Jumbo from the Beano although I don't remember him being 'green'.

I asked a guy from Ventura today if their highways really did have alligator lizards in the air – he didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

Sergeant Paper03 Oct 2014 7:21 p.m. PST

Absolutely do, you need your wipers on all day after sunup and the roads are slick with blood.

Sergeant Paper03 Oct 2014 7:22 p.m. PST

That's only on the highway, though, there's a plague of smartasses once you get off the Ventura Highway. I lived there for years, and may have been infected.

Now listen here you Young Americans type. I do not believe that you are affording this post the gravitas that GB/UK nostalgia deserves. I have dealt with hippies before, you know.

Instead of worrying about alligator lizards in the air or beefy wrestlers without elbows you ought to pay more attention to all the vampires walkin' through the valley and move west down Ventura boulevard – and, as EVERY British school student is taught, there is no such thing as Ventura ‘highway', although the boulevard is not that bad.

Strangely, I've enjoyed your input. laugh

Nice picture of me at the beginning of this article.
It was taken during my "Rifles" period, hence the green colouring.
The transmitter has now been miniaturised to wristwatch size, of course.
Regards
General Jumbo

General, take it as your own to identify yourself on TMP.

Ah, there's the problem, your overweight gravy-clad GB/UK nostalgia has misinterpreted the geographical layout of the Golden Land to the west…

Smartasses and Alligator Lizards abound around the city of Ventura, whilst bloodsucking eejits are to be found eastward, in the Valley so beloved of film and song. Through that storied valley runs a golden stream of commerce known to all as "Ventura Boulevard," no doubt in honor of the same glorious ancestors the fabled city of Ventura is named after. Two different places.

If pressed, I will confess that the Ventura 'Highway' is now more commonly ascribed the "Ventura Freeway" but it would still fit the lyric…
