I now have enough Victrix Peninsular War boxes to do 7 British Battalions of 40 figures each – 4 figures per company.

But I may not have enough heads with the stovepipe shako. The sets have only enough heads for each private man, sergeant and drummer – if you use the 4 bare heads included. I don't like to use the bare heads, and have further reduced the number of stovepipes by giving them to a couple officers!

Does anyone know is there is a maker of separate 28mm stovepipe shako heads, plastic, lead, pewter, whatever?

Victrix used to make light infantry heads in metal, but they were too small for the plastic infantry. They would not be correct for line infantry in the Peninsula.

A second point: I want to do the 26th French Chasseurs a Cheval, and Rousselot shows them wearing a shako very much like that worn by the Polis Vistula Legion lancers. It has the sunburst front metal plate, on the typical French 1808-12 shako.

See the Voltigeur heads in the center of this set of 3 types:

It looks like Warlord Games makes 6 heads that might work. Just a suggestion to others who might be interested.

If you were in the UK I could easily send you a few spare heads. I'm bound to have some in my spares box.

Brigade Games offer British having separate heads with stovetop shako.

Very kind of you, JimDuncan. I am in Texas in the USA. Not a good idea so send any!

Frankly, I can't imagine anyone having extras from a Victrix set, for they only make one head for non-officer figure.

I might "play around" with childs' modeling clay and plater of Paris to make a small mold to make "leadheads!

I "might" have some extras as I bought some of the metal heads from victrix for the lights, marines, and hannoverians. Let me check, but if I do how many do you need?

Hello,Razor78:

I just don't know yet. One set is in the mail to me with 40 men and 36 heads. I have assembled 5 battalions, and mostly painted them (I have "painted myself into a corner" by putting on heads, painting legs/body/heads; then adding one arm a time, painting, adding the other arm, painting, and now waiting to re-sculpt the backpacks!!! No one to game with, and fun for spare time weekends!). But they are at 32 figures, including 8 flank company men.

I just have to get them all together with the new set, and "count heads!"

@Garde de Paris

It would be no great hastle to find a few heads for you. That is what 'spares boxes' are for.

Bearing in mind any other offers from TMP'ers how many do you really need?

When you figure out let me know, meanwhile I'll figure out what I have. You are welcome to whatever I come up with.

Thanks, guys. I need some hobby time when the last box comes to get a realistic count.

I've got absolutely tons of spare Victrix and Perry stovepipe heads which I'd be happy to pass on to anyone who needs some.
you can find my email on the blog link
just send me an address and how many you need

The Victrix box came today. It looks like I have 23 private men without heads, but I only need 16 to complete the 7 units of 40 each.

16 heads short.

I have that metal light infantry head set, originally made by Victrix, but I am using them to do a 30mm Stadden British unit of 40 as light infantry. These heads are too small for Victrix!

I'd be glad to pay for the pieces, and postage & handling, if anyone has any to spare. I am in Paris, TX, vous toutes!

I'll have a rummage this afternoon to see how many I can contribute.

JimDuncanUK05 Oct 2014 7:06 a.m. PST

Depending on the response from those nearer to you than I am.

Looks like I can spare 16 heads (stovepipe shako).

Any other bits you need?

I would accept a PayPal payment to my recently deceased best wargaming buddys charitable donation. You can choose an appropriate amount.
