Kind of funny since today I found out there is a B-17 in my area for a few days. I'm hoping to go see it after work. If I had a spare $450 USD I would go for a ride in it. That would be scary as hell going up in a 70 year old plane.

Well you could fly in the Yankee Warrior for $25.00 USD less, but I would say if you are spending that kind of money whats $25.00 USD more to fly the Yankee Lady.

We need them as a replacement for the A-10.

Toured a B-17 and a B-24 once years ago, but didn't have the $ for an aerial ride. Maybe someday.

I've toured several of these, but haven't flown in one. There was one more flying around on tours a few years ago until it started burning and had to crash land in a farmer's field a bit west of where I live. What fascinated me was what remained looked just like the remains of the first B-17 prototype when it crashed after takeoff. Obviously the way they were built fuselage fires burned out the same portions of the fuselage just behind the wings and forward a bit above the wings.

I've been fortunate enough over the years to see several B-17s, B-24s, a PB4Y-2 Privateer converted to a "borate bomber" for fighting forest fires, a converted A-26 and numerous P-51s.

Toured both a B-17 and a B-24 last weekend. There was a WW2 Army Air Force vet present and he told us stories of serving as a Bombardier on a B-24 in the Pacific. Fascinating stuff.

Although I have never flown in it I have been in and toured the B-17 "Texas Raider's" back in the early 80's. it was a sight to behold. I still have vivid memories of the airshow at the Jefferson County Airport. Ah what memories of my youth! Salut y'all!
