So I've bought my first two sets of Perry miniatures. They are Foot Knights and Mercenaries European Infantry. I've never done plastic figures like this. Does anyone have any tips or a blog post on good ways to assemble these figures? Thanks |

A good plastic glue is essential, I bought mine from Warlord. |

There are a number of threads on this on the Lead Adventure Forum link I particularly recommend the stuff posted by Captain Blood, who wrote that excellent article in Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy 62 on building and converting the Perry "Mounted Man-at-Arms". |

I wrote this four years ago for the Wargames Factory Vikings. There are several tips for assembling plastic figures. link Here is my LAF thread for the Perry medievals link Regards Mick |

My recommendations: 1.) Remove the parts from sprue with cutters and/or knife 2.) Remove mould lines from all parts with a sharp knife 3.) Dry-fit the parts before glueing, to ensure that they provide a pose that looks good to you 4.) Glue the parts together with good plastic glue (do not apply too much of it) Plastic glue can form pretty strong bonds, and it cannot be dissolved afterwards, so it is good to think a bit before glueing. If you are unhappy with the results afterwards, you may find that you will need to cut the parts apart. Also, don't be afraid to mix and match bits between the different kits. With Perry medieval plastics, parts from the different kits are very intercompatible. And don't forget to pick their two other plastic sets (mounted men-at-arms and WotR infantry). |

Thanks for the advice and links. I have Plasti-Zap medium CA as a glue. Any other better choices for glues out there? After looking at some of the paint jobs on these figures I'm not sure I can make them look that good. |

I have Plasti-Zap medium CA as a glue. Any other better choices for glues out there? For hard plastic minis you should really use Liquid Poly cement. link |

I used Testor's Model Master Liquid Cement for Plastic Models and was very happy with it. |

Yeah, definitely don't use CA for them. They will fall apart. Plastic cement is the way to go. I use Testors myself. Get yourself a really good set of clippers, nice and sharp. Clip all the parts off, I usually do one set of whatever at a time, so bodies or legs, then the next piece you are going to glue on. Then clean those with a relatively dull hobby knife. There is no reason to use a sharp one and you will clean them faster and more safely with a dull one. The mold lines are easily removed by scraping along the line with the knife. Then glue those two pieces together. Then start on the next piece. Clip all of those off. Clean them and then glue them on, then the next piece and so on until you are finished. |

Definitely use modeling glue, designed for styrene plastic. Small amounts can be applies with a pin or toothpick. These glues go tacky before they set so its easy to position parts. |
