Pictors Studio | 29 Sep 2014 6:48 a.m. PST |
About a 100 yen to a dollar when I was there. |
Jeffrey P | 29 Sep 2014 7:00 a.m. PST |
The web site shows the price as $ 27.82 US. |

What we *really* need for those pulp era games is a Japa-Nazi flying wing:

I must say that the plane on the poster is a lot sleeker than the plane in the actual serial…

>>I must say that the plane on the poster is a lot sleeker than the plane in the actual serial…<< Whaaaat??? A movie poster that misrepresents the film??? LOL |
Servo3000 | 29 Sep 2014 9:15 a.m. PST |
Beautiful poster, Shadow. But speaking of 'misrepresenting" a film, I assume most have noticed the sci fi poster trend of showing the heroine being hauled away, usually unconscious, by a monster or robot? When nothing of the sort happens in the film? danwegner.net/index2.htm Forbidden Planet is one example of a great many. Makes me want to seek psycho-analysis. |

Allen57 That's a pretty crafty looking flying wing, but it doesn't look like the ones from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "King of the Mounties", or this one from "The Fighting Devil Dogs".

Servo Thanks for the link. If you've seen "Invasion of the Saucer Men" and "Attack of the Crab Monsters", it's a toss-up as to which poster is the most outrageous! I saw "Invasion" on it's first run in a theater and and *man* was I disappointed. Terrific poster. Silly film. When I watched it on TV many years later I realized that a some of it was supposed to be funny. I guess the saucer men getting the cow drunk was the wackiest scene. :-) |

105 yen to the dollar last week. Nice saucer, but I don't see anything that distinguishes its origin other than the decals, which can easily be swapped. |

Wow, 105… I remember 360 to the dollar waaaay back my first deployment to Okinawa before Reagan "stabilized" it at 220. That was a wallup. |

I have thought about doing a game where humanoid aliens who adopted the Nazi ideas and way of life via all the radio transmission from back then and then decided to come and visit earth. |

Mardaddy. not long after I arrived in Japan in the mid-90's the dollar went from being worth more than 125 yen all the way down to 79 or thereabouts. Being paid in yen, this effectively wiped out nearly half of my student loan debt which I then paid off in three months instead of the two years I had originally planned on. Had to eat a lot of instant ramen, though. Back on topic, (kind of), I'd like to see a model of the flying wing from that movie poster. |

War Monkey, your idea is a good one. Does anyone make Vrildammen? (I assume the ship is from Aldebaran.) Just need women with long hair which can be used as antennae to channel the extraterrestrial messages. |
