For the first time in years I will not be able to attend either or both SELWG or Reading Warfare, and I may also miss out on Salute 2015 – my great loss. And it is.

Given that a number of TMP members post their own pictures from these and other worldwide shows, is it not possible to have a pre-open doors photographic roundup of what is on offer/what you missed? Is there any interest in having an official 'look' at these shows? This could concentrate on the exhibits, new merchandise, perhaps even a couple of interviews with sculptors, painters, designers, Marmite eaters.

Your thoughts, please.

The difficulty would be finding someone to do it.

You're talking about a full time job as a regular reporter as on a newspaper.

Hey, if someone wants to pay me to drive round the country taking pictures and reporting on each show I will take up that baton happily.

Some of the games are only set up on the morning of the event and there is not a lot of time between set up and show opening…..also if a one day event games are broken down quickly as gamers and organisers want to go home!

Possible at a two day show if the location will allow access for a photographer but would probably be an additional cost for the show organisers. Also gamers do tend to cover over their tables to stop figures etc 'walking'.

We hire a photographer to come around and take pics of all the games at our Battleground show, but it's time consuming for them to do and it would be very hard to get something up on a website in advance of the doors opening.

We have to edit and upload the pics after the event, which is a few hours work, so it's usually the following day or two by the time we've got the images online.

At "The Weekend" which is held in the last week of June (next year 2015 it will be held on June 19th to 21st ) at the Continental Inn in Lancaster PA, we publish a 48 page full color booklet AFTER the convention giving a battle report on every game we had, and other events that took place. This is done as a cooperative effort between myself and the gamers. I usually have to beat peoples heads in to get the report.

If you want these we have booklets going back five years tot he original con. I can send you these, but they will cost about $3.00 USD a piece to cover postage and a tiny donation.

We do this because there's little point in lavishing money on a Pre-reg booklet. Better to give the attendees an AAR and a Keepsake Booklet. The booklet also contains selected articles from the Society of Daisy's Newsletter, Saxe N' Violets.
