Last night near "Hanover Banks" off the coast of Norway, (Sept 23, 1917) Five ships of the Royal Navy intercepted a fleet of six ships made up of 5 Battle Cruisers and the Battleship KM Bayern.

An epic naval battle soon started. The Bayern struck first when on turn 1 her opening volley hit the HMS Lion (Battleship) with a sever bombardment and coming within 10 points of crippling her. The Royal navy fired back doing little damage to the Hun!

Turn two the Bosche struck first again with all five ships firing at the HMS Lion and causing more damage but failed to cripple her…Then the HMS Revenge turned her four turrets of 15" gun towards the Bayern and fired! Causing 24 hits and 5 Critical hits….after another five "6s" in a row were rolled on the critical hit chart the Bayern took a VITAL HIT and then a Catastrophic Explosion! Blowing her out of the water and killing all aboard!(I have not rolled that wel in anyy game in years!!!)

Hauptman von Wendt was last heard by a rating while traveling up about 10K feet in the sky…"Gott mit uns..was ist enien wundvar view from up here!"

The German tried to salvage the loss by steaming forward towards the British but in the end lost the battle with 3 of the 5 survivors being crippled by the Royal Navy!

The HMS Lion was protected and saved from sinking!

Check out the London Times photo of the HMS Revenge…that is the Bayern exploding in the background!

Capt "Sir Bing" radioed back to the Admiralty…"One shot one kill!"

"Lord" Malcolm did a great job, ordering, painting up and having them ready in one week for last night fight…we will be playing WWI naval again next week.

. . . and the captains of the two ships in the foreground were so distracted by the explosion that they failed to realize that they were steaming directly towards each other at high speed.

25 hits in a single turn by 8 guns? Wow.
What range, may I ask?

If memory is correct it was at around 38 inches? the 15" guns have 50" range. Rolled 8 AD (2 for each gun) & most hit and then 4 DD per gun and most succesffuly caused damage! Then rolled some great ritical hits…Have not had a roll like that in years in any game! probally will not see that mnay 5s &6s in the next ten games! For the rest of the game I was strutting like a proud peacock aroun dteh game table!

Hauptman Charles went home and the wife ask how his game went…he answered sadly "Ron sunk my battleship!" :)
