"The silver-painted cargo plane appeared suddenly, zooming at 100 miles per hour, just 150 feet over the mountaintop U.S. Army outpost in Marzak, in eastern Afghanistan's restive Paktika province.

Twin engines roaring, the Turbo Caribou airlifter—registration number N238PT—pulled up sharply. Pallets of food, fuel and equipment slid out of the cargo hold. Parachutes unfurled, slowing the pallets as they tumbled onto the drop zone.

The Turbo Caribou droned away…"

Find this very interesting. As I worked 15 years on the DeHavilland DHC -5 Buffalo which was designed as the turbo prop replacement for the Caribou. It was designed for US Army due to success of Caribou in Vietnam. Conflict with Air Force ended up with it not being bought.
These engines are much more modern and I would love to see a comparison between the turbo Caribou vs Buffalo.
The Dehavilland Beaver which had a radial engine has also been upgraded as the turbo Beaver.
