Those guys are very cool! They remind me of some sort of space toad.

Speaking of space toads… are there any 25-28mm Trogs?

If it must be 15mm Trogs?

But they must not have weapons… or clothing. I can cut weapons off if necessary.

Don't you love spell checker? In this case it changed one Trog … make that two to Frog which, in this case, isn't altogether wrong…

LoudNinjaGames23 Sep 2014 7:58 p.m. PST

I am very proud of these sculpts. They are the first range of figures I have done of the same species. The next closest would be the five Vergans I have sculpted.

Eli,

The Prang are awesome indeed! And they obviously paint up well:

1) Any chance you might sculpt a crew of them with asteroid mining implements?
2) Also, any recommendations on what to use for mining machinery like this?

I would like to do a crew of Prang with tools to be used as wreckers, scavengers, miners, ships mechanics, even rescue if you are using them as good guys.

Tools are tricky to sculpt and I am looking into which ones to do.

If Eli decides to make more Prang then he has my full support in his choices. They are total characters.

I smell a sculpting project on the horizon.

Please, please, please!

PS. Eli, if you need me to dig up any specific reference images, please let me know.

Anything you think you might want to see.

I hope I'm not being too ambitious:

- Hardhats on all, with lights
- Overalls or similar garment with loops for small pick tools
- Protective eye goggles and/or welding visors
- A miner with a two-handed circular saw
- A couple with two-handed drills
- A miner with a welding torch and tank (carried on back)
- Gotta have one or two with plain ol' pick axes and hammers
- Mining boss with "iPad" in one hand and pointing (with a tool, perhaps a wrench) to his crew's next task
- A miner with a shovel or some other tool for picking up debris
- And there's always some smart fellow standing around taking readings with a geiger counter or some other detector

While I "dig" for more pics, here are a couple that show space miners where there's no need of space suits:

PS. For additional options, I may need to watch again the Farscape episode where there are miners digging within the corpse of a giant space creature (Budong?).

Cacique Caribe24 Sep 2014 12:48 p.m. PST

Hmm …

Did Dune's spice miners carry any tools that are visible at any point in the film?

This is the only scene I could find:

Prang / toadie power suits or armor please

Gavin Syme GBS Sponsoring Member of TMP26 Sep 2014 9:57 a.m. PST

That is the gauntlet thrown down indeed. I certainly think Miners would be cool and Prang in powered suits…that is just scary strong.

Prang with Jump Packs – giving true meaning to be on the bounce.

Prang Battle suit – really scary.

I was once even planning on attaching a couple of these to some sort of platform or bucket on rails, but I'm still not convinced how well that would have looked with 15mm figures:

That is a lot of images and suggestions for Prang Miners. There is a lot of feedback on this…Prang will continue!

Yes please! Hurray…..maybe the prang can be the 15mm version of orks from that other company..not in comparison or as proxies….just big slobs who are terribly violent chaps.

LoudNinjaGames01 Oct 2014 5:52 p.m. PST

While I can see their use as such, I really would love for the Prang to develop into their own thing with their own identity.

Eli: "I really would love for the Prang to develop into their own thing with their own identity."

I absolutely agree!!!

But, when I look at the Prang, their appearance and demeanor already speak volumes to me.

I can see the Prang using a mixture of weapons, equipment and garb acquired from numerous sources, but I simply can't see them as being brutish like ape-like Orks.

In other words, no jagged blades and spikes for them, please! They may have occasional patches to keep things functional, but they already seem like they know how to use tools properly and seem like sophisticated entrepreneurs who know where to get the things they need when it's time to upgrade.

I kinda see them more like Ferengi but who, unlike that race, have no problem rolling up their sleeves to get dirty and work or fight for what they want and need. At the same time, other races see them as a reliable and tough honor-bound guild who promote trade and business, and who can be hired to get the job done, no matter what it is, where it, or what it takes. They understand risk and they know how to charge for their services. They definitely don't seem the type that would back down when someone else tries to get in the way of one of their contractual assignments or during the execution of one of their own independent ventures.

Of course, they couldn't possibly pass up the occasional easy prey.

Eli, is that more or less how you envisioned them to be?

Dan

LoudNinjaGames01 Oct 2014 7:23 p.m. PST

Funny you should ask.

When I was sculpting I was going with the theme of pirates, raiders, scavengers and bandits. Gavin had another idea for them.

Oddly enough I have seen them painted both ways and they work.

-Eli

Cacique Caribe01 Oct 2014 7:26 p.m. PST

Agreed, again.

I think they are ultra versatile and fill numerous niches long overlooked by most!

Dan

LoudNinjaGames01 Oct 2014 7:33 p.m. PST

I really need to get back to sculpting on these. My sculpting time has been severely impacted this last year, so I have been trying to find ways to get some of it back

I certainly think Miners would be cool

Reminds me of "The Underminer" from The Incredibles.

Cacique Caribe03 Oct 2014 10:26 p.m. PST

Underminer?

Dan

GypsyComet06 Oct 2014 10:12 p.m. PST

Just as Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek movie so far produced, The Incredibles is the best Fantastic Four movie so far.

Conrad Geist07 Oct 2014 2:16 a.m. PST

Prang remind me of the scavenging Sheyang from Farscape. A crew of salvager types would be awesome.

Cacique Caribe07 Oct 2014 7:58 a.m. PST

Shhh. Bite your tongue!

Dan

Cacique Caribe28 Apr 2018 8:04 p.m. PST

So, guys, are there going to be Prang "miners" at some point in the near future?

Thanks

Dan

These are not currently in the works, but the future holds many possibilities.
