Hi all,

I have just started a series of articles on making Napoleón at war more attractive to play for wargamers who already play napoleonics but are reluctant to try it out.

You can see the introduction and Part one about base size here on my blog link

@ackostokie1,

I am not a big fan of these rules but play them when every one else does. I can't resist a Napoleonic play Op.

Since the lasalle is essentially equivalent to 8 x 4 man NAP bases .
1) remove one 8 fig base ( use 3 of 8 fig stands = NAP 6 equivalent) change the ground scale for appropriate range and move distances and retain the smoke marker to represent 4 man "base" removed.
2) Per your plan, but my question for the unit rout/ remove from play status, with more stands essentially being present (IE 8 vs 6), what are going to do so the units attrition is the same (to keep game play fast)? The 8 stand units will have a slower attrition rate, even with more fire power of 8 vs 6, with a saving throw system as NAW?

My 2 cents

Hi Mg, If using a lasalle based unit there are 4 stands present not eight, the firing and atrrition is applied the same as NAW as if it was a NAW six bases unit (the smoke markers reminding you to subtract dice due casualties as described in the article.

The problem in only using 3 bases of lasalle infantry is when making formations etc. Also the idea is for two players with different base systems to play each other and so keeping as close as possible the unit and formation foot prints

Thanks for your comments

Phil, I love the smoke idea to mark base removal, or for disruption in lasalle style systems.. makes the table pretty !!!

My N@W armies, actually all my Horse and Musket armies, are based on DBx frontages.

As mentioned above, just use 4 of them for a N@W infantry unit and mark casualties.

The mechanisms of N@W are almost all unit v unit so basing is not as critical as in some sets. One day I'll play a test game with units of just 2 DBx stands and an adjusted ground scale.
