So, I've found myself starting to collect and work on figures for a Bolt Action Belgian Resistance Force. Any good books for a wargamer's perspective on tactical combat operations of the Belgian and/or French Resistance? Also, anything with info on tactical operations in conjunction with the Belgian SAS (paradropped after Normandy to help with training). I have Fire From The Forest: The SAS Brigade in France 1944, but it's very thin on details regarding the Belgian 5th Brigade. I have a reading knowledge of French, so any useful French sources would be handy too. |

This book might not be of practical use for the wargamer, as the author of this memoir participated mainly in non-combat operations, like smuggling downed pilots across France into Spain. I find it noteworthy, however, as it was written by my ninth grade French teacher. One did not mess with Mme Davis, we whispered. She killed Germans… link |

The Next Moon by Andre Hue was awfully good. It's autobiographical, so give the guy a little slack if he comes off as a little too heroic or too perceptive from time to time. Couple good fights described in there. |

Thosmoss got in there first! :) I second 'The Next Moon' – some excellent scenario ideas there for everything from role-playing games to brigade-sized battles. It's the autobiography of a Welsh-French SOE agent, who was smuggled out of the France to Britain while still a teenager (he'd been passing details of military trains to the Resistance) and was then commissioned into the SOE. He then parachuted back into France (Britanny) with the French SAS on D-Day and then raised a large French 'army'. This ended in disaster and he, with the surviving SAS and Resistants, were then hunted by Germans, French Milice and Cossacks. |

Thanks for the suggestions! The Belgian Girl had popped right up before in my google searches. I'ld certainly behave well if she was teaching my French class too. The Next Moon does look useful. Just ordered both from ABE. |
