Nicely done – I have been putting off painting my Gauls due to the same issue with tartans/plaid. Must gird my loins!

I have been experimenting with using gel ink pens for stripes/plaids. So far, it's an okay thing. I have used them in the past for various markings & lettering on WH40K vehicles and ships. They also work pretty well for banners.

The trick is getting the lines inside the legs, under arms, etc. I'm beginning to think that my Gauls/Celts/Etc are going to be of a more "plain" society that values solid colors and simple designs over tartans & plaids. wink

One of these days you will be congratulating ME on doing plaids and stripes. Until that day comes, please do not hold your breath- I still suck at it and decent figure painters shall have no fear of my efforts. I am also experimenting with gel pens for striped clothing, but find I am better writing patriotic Soviet slogans on WWII T-34's than I am at making a straight line from a trousers waistband to the ankle! As for you, Gunfreak, well done! You have spurred me to keep on striping!

@LeonAdler
Which of the Artline pens do you use? Have you tried the yellow? I'm after something for drawing concentric rings on matt white on Late Roman shields

JARROVIAN,
I use the Artline Drawing system pens, they dont do a yellow but on matt white just about any pen will work. Just been on the site ( Cult pens……….careful how you type then when searching lol) and see the Copic MultiLiner pens are back having disapeared for years. They have a yellow in that range. Used them a lot in past but obviously no idea if they have changed as havent tried any of the current ones.

@LeonAdler
Thanks for that, I'll give them a bash. I used to paint stuff like this with ease, but old age and diabetes is catching up with me, causing hand shaking and poor grip.
