Used to watch this show on Saturday mornings in my 'formative' years along with 'Shazam!' If I say I didn't have a crush on Joanna Cameron I'd be lying.

Definitely – she was almost as hot as Wonder Woman Lynda Carter. |

Ah, now I see why "Isis" was familiar. Forgotten mythology. Sitting here feeling forgetful and silly. It was the all-caps that threw me…. |

I loved that show, she was hotter than Wonder Woman to me… |

There is a woman, named Isis, in south Florida (Hey Smokey!) that wants ISIS to be referred to as ISIL. link |

"Oh, Mighty Isis…" That is pretty much all I remember from that show. |

Raises an interesting point – do they realise they've chosen to name themselves (once the rest of the world translates their initials from the Arabic into English) after an idolatrous Egyptian God – the Mother of Horus and Goddess of the Artisans?? |

I suspect the acronym is of Western origin. |
Martin Rapier | 19 Sep 2014 2:41 a.m. PST |
ISIS/ISIL are western inventions. Islamic State calls itself al-Dawlah al-Islāmīyah fī al-ʻIrāq wa-al-Shām (written in Arabic). An Arabic acronym might be DAISH. That can be transated into English as Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (greater Syria), or ISIS. But they really don't care what we call them, they just want to exterminate their religious enemies. It is like the Thirty Years War all ovefr again. |

Minor quibble: she doesn't look that Egyptian. |

Read in this morning's paper about a beauty parlour somewhere in England that are getting hate mail because they're called Isis. I konw some of these beauty regimes can be a bit drastic, but… |

With respect to you 28mm Fanatik, I find myself at a loss to understand how your non-wargaming/miniatures post that includes reference to your 'crush' on an actress has been allowed to remain, while another TMP member who spoke in a similar way about an Italian actress was removed because it was NOT linked to the hobby? What is the difference, what is the secret? I do not want to see your post removed but Editor can you return the other post or explain your thinking here? Both posts are/were not without humour. |

Didn't she drive around in a VW "Thing" (i.e. Kubelwagon)? Hayseeds: There's your gaming link! |
Editor in Chief Bill | 19 Sep 2014 10:15 a.m. PST |
Hayseeds, the "media" boards are open to discussion of television shows with wargaming potential. Although wouldn't Isis be fantasy, not sci-fi? |
