Baron von Trapp wrote a memoir about his experience as an Austrian U-boat commander in WWI. I can't tell you how good it is (or not), but it's in my book cue.

The last gentlemen of war is a book about the emden (famed raider of the Pacific ocean)

There are several books on the Emden, and IIRC one was written by the commander.

QC – Check these out

"Two Lone Ships", George Kopp – crewman aboard GOEBEN.

"Kiel and Jutland", Cdr Georg von Hase – gunnery officer of DERFFLINGER at Jutland, also found under title "The Two White Nations" and "Die Zwei Weissen Volk". ***

"The Fighting at Jutland", Fawcett & Hooper – a collection of numerous first-person accounts of participants in the Battle of Jutland; first published around 1921 and nowadays considered a pseudo-primary source document. ***

"The Sea Heritage", Adm Sir Frederic Dreyer – memoir of RN gunnery specialist who developed the Dreyer FC Table and who served as Jellicoe's flag captain aboard IRON DUKE at Jutland.

"A North Sea Diary", Cdr Stephen King-Hall – North Sea service in a RN light cruiser IIRC.

"Keeping the Seas", Capt E. R. G. R. Evans – North Sea service in a RN light cruiser IIRC.

"Official Despatches of the Battle of Jutland", His Majesty's Stationery Office 1922(?) – the collected official reports of all British warships that participated in the Battle of Jutland. A trove of information. ***

Search these titles at archive.org. I have starred (***) the ones which I recall being available for free d/l at that website.

This is my period in especial interest.
