"For the last few years, the Pentagon's budget blade has been looming over the 65th Aggressor Squadron, the USAF's F-15 unit that are masters at mimicking large enemy fighters like the Su-27. Sadly, the days of F-15s flying in the adversary role are coming to an end as the unit will be shuttered this month…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

If you don't feel like spending money on defense something has to give. You can't give everything the highest priority. |

The title makes you think the USAF is retiring the entire F-15 fleet…… |

Well, the USAF *did* want to replace all the F15s except MAYBE the Strike Eagles with F22s… |

Very misleading title. "And oh no an Aggressor squadron is gone, Bye bye enitre US military capability." Where do they find these "journalists?" Did they know the USAF now regularly trains against actual real Flankers from countries like India and Malaysia? Also in case anyone's been paying attention, most countries don't operate fighter planes anymore. And when they're most likely to be our enemies, then it's Su-22/24/25, MiG-21/-23/-25 and older versions of MiG-29 as well as Mirage F1 and US built F-4/-5/-14 (aka Iran/9. Last time US shot down enemy fighters was 1999 and then it was ancient Serb MiG-29s with malfunctioning radars and they had a grand total of 16 of them of which most were unairworthy. If the US is going to be going against someone with so many Flankers as to dedicate an entire Aggressor Squadron to it, it's going to be WWIII? The rationale reeks of modern imbecilic standards – you can't cut anything to become financially sustainable but then the same people scream about government expenditure being financially unsustainable. I experience this all the time in my job.

If you don't feel like spending money on defense something has to give. You can't give everything the highest priority. I don't think its about "feeling." It's more about "being able to afford." You can't have your cake and eat it too. But the politicians and idiot public they represent have no understanding of this. |

Throw in the defense contractors (with their paid 'journalists', copiously funded lobbyists and bought and paid for politcos) tossing in their input, and the whole procurement system becomes a cesspool of dueling special interests. That anything good comes out of it is a miracle. |
