Years of dreaming and picking up 6th edition GW plastic Orcs and Empire. Finally stage 1 is done. 1200 or so of Orcs. Units are made up of 3 stands, each stand 50mmx50mm

Very cool! I have that same giant in my kings of war army, which is fairly similar in philosophy. |

Wow! Would love to see that in the flesh. What size table will you be playing on? |

I was just looking at my old GW lead and plastic pile from the nineties, thinking what to do with it. Thanks for the inspiration. |

My local store, Treefort, has plenty of tables, so I'll start with a 6x8 and go from there. Best part is not fiddling with small bases to line them up. |

Impressive collection. The Empire, of course, stands absolutely no chance if the Orks have that god on their side. Doug |

The Empire have cannons (lots of cannons!) – that Giant isn't going to be around for long! ;) 28mm Warmaster is something I've been thinking about doing for a long time. My plan was to multiply everything by 2.5, so centimetre measurements would become inches, and the Warmaster 20x40mm base conveniently scales up to 50x100, which is a GW Chariot base (or, more likely, a Renedra flat base of the same size). Regiments could be done as great diorama pieces – front stand fighting, second stand preparing to move up, and the third stand being men retired from the fight, being resupplied, and wounded being treated. The only issue would be finding a table big enough to play it on |

Great work! Who will be playing against you on the other side of the table? |

I started down this road and backed up because I didn't want to multi-base figure I might want to use for skirmish gaming. I am instead sticking with single-figure basing, despite the pain, but will use those Shogun bases that are steel with flanges on three sides (which looks very clean and minimal). I will also use unit-based mechanics rather than casualty-removal on the table. But, my LOTR Haradrim by GW based for HoTT looked great. |

Yeah, Cat Goddess Spitfire can do a very good impression of the Hand of Gork Swat. |

Fabulous stuff! Now I know what to do with those 20,000 points of Orcs and Gobbos I have collected for WHFB 6th edition. |

This is an honest question; is Warmaster that great of a rule set? I recall playing once when the rules first came out, and then it seemed 2 months later the excitement died down at our FLGS. I have been searching for a mass fantasy ruleset, but kept passing these by. I know the rules are available for free, but just wondering what the charm is so many years later. Also – the army looks great! |

The charm of Warmaster? No wound tracking. Three bases, once you loose a base a unit is less effective in all ways, but not necessarily dead. The command system can be annoying, but I love it. The way combat works is fantastic (although I do like it adjusted using warmaster historicals limits). The only thing I never really appreciated is I felt movement was perhaps a little fast. But its been while. I have fond memories of this game. I would play it anytime. If some of the pomp and flare of WHFB had been melded into wma…. I could see it having been even more successful. At the core, the game is fast, simple, tactical, buckets of dice, and plain fun. |
