I've put a couple of pics up on my blog of my representation of a a couple of flags representing Edward Plantagenet, the first is as Earl of March and the second is him as king of England. here's the link if anyone's interested:

I've got no idea if these were carried alongside each other however medieval nobility appear to have collected badges/titles etc as they went along so I'm guessing they could have been.

I'm not sure which Yorkist noble to do next so any suggestions would be welcome, cheers and thanks for looking Pete.

Warwick or Norfolk.

I think pole is too short.

I don't think the pole is too short, I think the flag is too big – specifically the fringe?

Hi, thanks for the comments. the flag will be mounted on a cavalry figure once I've painted one so that should sort the issues with the pole. I admit the flag is on the large side however medieval standards could be anywhere from 3-4 deep and upto 6 yards in length. He's th eking so I've gone for a big one, the flag's 70mm long so just about in scale.

Pedrobear I've trimmed the fringe down and put another pic up on my blog; I provide a deep fringe on my flags as I find if you make a mistake lining the flag up it gives you a bit of leeway. Have a look and let me know your thoughts; by the way it'll be Norfolk next, cheers Pete

pete17; Do you actually put these figures on a war game table and let people touch them? Beautiful work.

My question is about the standard bearers: these appear to be common foot soldiers, but wouldn't the king's and the earl's main standards be carried by knights?…

Pete,

I will leave it to the experts to comment on size, shape, fringe, rank of bearer etc. All I can say is I stand in awe at the skill you possess, and the beauty of the final product. Outstanding!

That is some very nice work. You make my entire Medieval figure collection look like crap. I want to play with yours instead. :-)

Do you have any plans to do these flags in other scales?

pete,

To be quite honest I do think it looks more… natural now that you have trimmed the fringe. ;)

But even with the broad fringe, it's still impressive work.

Yes, the length of the standard is according to rank – can't remember what a king was entitled to though… 12 yards?

Thanks for the positive comments and advice, cheers Pete
