My school has decided to allow me to offer a mini-course in Simulation Gaming. I was happy to see that four students had decided to find some time for table-top gaming in their already over-scheduled lives.

We will probably do some Napoleonics, Dungeon Busting, and ACW gaming before it is all over, but I decided to start with a light, fun skirmish game.

Each kid is playing a pirate crew, searching an island filled with hazards for hidden treasure. But once a player starts to accumulate treasure, they become a likely target for the other players.

We're well into the game. You can read about our first turns here:

Really cool looking game. Hope they had fun AND appreciate the effort.

Pirates are always a good entertaining portal into history vs. drama.

Arrr, here's a bit of pirate booty, mateys…

Encouraging students to pillage and plunder? Life skills that will pay off. Good work Mark, glad to see your still promoting imagination and creativity in students.

Looks like fun and encouraging the future. Good job. If you have not done so yet, be sure and track down the links to wingnut's pirate spectacular. Exceptionally well worth the effort. Some day I hope to make my game look more like his – when I get back to working on my pirates.
