Hello.
Could anyone please help me understand how damage works in Langton's Signal Close Action rules?

I understand the procedure:
-Roll the dice, use the black gunnery + red dice to get a result in the gunnery chart one.
-Use the multiplier factor in gunnery chart two with the broadside value to get the amount of damage.

And here is where I get lost… I am confused how DC works and how it is used… if a ship has 50 DC, that means it has 50 hull damage points AND it will always have 2 damage points per mast for riggin? And every hull damage point is equivalent to the sum of the broadside factors?

So, if this 50 DC ship has a broadside factor of 2 (2 on each side), does it mean that if you do 8 damage when hitting it on the hull, you did 2 DCs of damage and it goes down to 48 DC for the hull?

Did I get it right? Can someone explain it to me? Thanks!

I think I finally understand how it works, I will answer my own question for the benefit of anyone who is lost like me…

Ships have a hull damage potential equivalent to the sum of both broadside factors, so on my example above the ship has a Hull DC of 4. Each one of these 4 points has 50 "damage points". So, once the ship accumulates 50 points, it looses one of the Hull DCs, going down to 3. And so on, and on…

I think now it makes sense.

Any comments or suggestions?

Try the fast play rules frist. this would help you understand the game better.
I think you are right about the hull DC's now.
I have read and read Langton's SCA rules and will one day find time and a friend to sit down and go through them one step at a time. I wish you good luck and fun
