Why do wargamers need painters tape, and is the dollar-store variety good enough?

Interesting, le Panzerschreck but la HMG. I wonder how the Academie Francaise came to that decision?

Machine guns have always been feminine, as in "la militailaise", why panzershreck is male is anyone's guess, in the same way other adopted foriegn words are assigned gender, like why are weekends male?

I'm pretty sure that it's la mitrailleuse. Anyway, good to see you posting here Chris, though you won't remember me.

Good grief! There's more stuff on those map boards than you can shake a stick at. Lots of variety too.
How long did it take to play that out? (Or are you still playing it?!) LOL
How many players and how many judges?
And it's not even June 6th…

Yes, it is "la mitrailleuse".

But a light machine gun can be "un fusil mitrailleur", or become "une mitrailleuse légère" when belt fed …

Same for SMG which can be "un pistolet-mitrailleur" for the military, or "une mitraillette" for the common people.

It is "le" panzerscherk because in French that type of launcher is known as "Lance-roquette antichar" which is a masculine word.

The French allow common people to access SMGs? Well I never!

What was the groundscale for the game? Looks impressive.

Tirailleur corse03 Dec 2014 9:11 a.m. PST

Deephorse, the French do not allow common people to own a SMG. This was especially expressed in the last gun control act, and there are no more exceptions …
Mentioning the "mitraillette" I was refering to word the most used by non military people to depict a SMG.
So yes SMGs are banned, but French people are sometimes not as law abiding as our anglo saxons friends, and you must remenber that thousands and tens of thousands SMG have been spread throughout France, as by the SOE to the Résistance, as by the routing Whermacht, and it is not that rare to find one in oàur cellars. But, please, don't tell!
