I finally got my Early Franks painted and based. You've seen better painting and better photos but here's what I have.

Closer look at the generals

The figures are really nice sculpts. One reservation is the guys throwing the heavy spears (angons) overhand. The spears are glued in, which means they may well fall out when playing. I put all of them in the middle of the stands to reduce chances, but you know wargamers like to pick stands up by the figures. A minor nit pick is there was no foot draco for the foot general. The only figures afoot with helmets were for the general. There was also an extra foot figure so I stuck him on the foot command base so it would stand out. That said, I recently played a series of DBA games where the Franks were thumped 4 games in a row by generic Huns. After seeing that, I'll always take a mounted general. 10 warbands are enough. Otherwise the only fast element in the army is the single psiloi. Strong army? No. Ah, but they have personality plus. Charge!

Unlike the other hairy types who overran the Roman Empire, these guys were converted by orthodox Christians, not heretics like the Vandals and Goths. Another point in their favor.
