Have you? Would you? How did/would you?

Did you game just the Battle of the Plains of Abraham? The Landing at the Cove of Foulon? Diversionary tactics by the Royal Navy near the main French encampment? Action elsewhere? Cap Rouge? Point Levis? Orleans Island? Bridge of Boats? Beauport? Montmorency?

Just the armies? Also the Royal Navy? Bougainville's troops? Did you game the number of cannon the garrison of Quebec would loan to Montcalm? The number of cannon Wolfe's troops could get up the cliff in time? The number of troops each would be able to get in place in time? The freshness of Montcalm's horse?

What time period did you game? The entire morning of September the 13th? The ten or fifteen minutes around 10 AM when the "real action" took place? The entire three-month siege?

What rules? What size/scale? What command level?

From what I've read so far, frigates, fire-ships, floating batteries, smallboats, longboats, launches, barges and bateaux seem to be the most important "vehicles" of the war.

Interested in stories, batreps, AARs, pictures, etc.

I've so far only read one old book and the Wikipedia article. I find it interesting that a three-month siege and a very desperate night culminated in very brief exchange of (two?) volleys (per side, from the "regulars"), followed by a rout.

I did the battle, as is, using Age of Reason rules and 25/28mm figures.
Then I did St Foy.
Then I sold both armies.

I have.

The whole siege from the arrival of the British force to the surrender of Quebec.

Just the armies? Also the Royal Navy? Bougainville's troops?

Yes, all of those.

Did you game the number of cannon the garrison of Quebec would loan to Montcalm? The number of cannon Wolfe's troops could get up the cliff in time? The number of troops each would be able to get in place in time? The freshness of Montcalm's horse?

Not at that level of detail.

What time period did you game? The entire morning of September the 13th? The ten or fifteen minutes around 10 AM when the "real action" took place? The entire three-month siege?

See above.

What rules? What size/scale? What command level?

Home grown. 1 base per battalion, on a board split up into areas. The board extended from Cap Rouge to Montmorency.

From what I've read so far, frigates, fire-ships, floating batteries, smallboats, longboats, launches, barges and bateaux seem to be the most important "vehicles" of the war.

The British fleet consisted of over 200 ships.

The definitive book on the siege is:

C.P. Stacey, "Quebec 1759, The Siege and the Battle".

Perhaps superceeded by S. Brumwell Paths of Glory 2006?

Perhaps superseded by S. Brumwell Paths of Glory 2006?

Not sure, I've not read that one, but my copy of Stacey is the revised and updated edition also published in 2006.

About 10 years ago or more we play in our club Quebec as a campaign using the Columbia Game Quebec 1759 for the Campaign and then playing the battles with Volley&Bayonet Rules. I donīt know any more how many battles we played but it was a small number not more then 4 or 5. It was very interesting and funny. There are newer rules now but I think you can combine other rules too with the columbia game and have an interesting theme for some game evenings.

Please execuse any errors english is not my native language.

My club has played it in 6mm, just the Plains of Abraham (and St. Foy as a separate battle – played it 3 times in one day). The rules were a house-modified set of Polemos rules, don't remember much about the OOBs, but the French did have one battery.

From what I recall, the French will have a tough time unless the British start messing about too much on the flanks and forget to just get to it.

Plan to do it in 28mm but just the actual battle on the Plains with the British and French already set up historically. Not sure about rules yet, but probably AOR.

I have the Columbia Game "Quebec 1759" and it is an interesting idea to use it for a campaign game.
