Don't tell me, let me guess – the male player always loses, right?

KatieL11 Sep 2014 12:49 p.m. PST

Well, it's usually the male who's strayed.

Divorce instigation is roughly about 50/50, but way more men have already found "someone else" before they leave.

Reminds me of the line from "McClintock" given by John Wayne to Maureen O'Hara:

"Indian fighting is good training for our kind of conversations."

Moe tells Curly to "shave some ice" for the party.

Curly approaches the block of ice set in a tub on a table, places a cover around the ice, lathers up his shaving cup, and begins apply shaving cream to the block of ice.

Curly to the ice block: "So, are you married, or are you happy?"

Actually divorce stats show that over 70% of divorces are initiated by women. Since the "no fault divorce" gained legal acceptance, the most popular reason is "lack of satisfaction" not infidelity.

Hmmmm … I didn't find divorce much fun the first time I played it evil grin

Korvessa11 Sep 2014 3:20 p.m. PST

Wasn't there a line like this in bridge on Remagen?
You ever been liberated?
I've been divorced 3 times, does that count?

Korvessa11 Sep 2014 3:45 p.m. PST

A poem:
Happy wife = happy life
Cuz if momma ain't happy
Ain't nobody happy
And if that goes on long enough
You'll be unhappy with half your stuff

dBerczerk11 Sep 2014 4:06 p.m. PST

Korvessa -- that was a great quote from "A Bridge Too Far."

Col. Robert Stout: I'm Bobby Stout.
Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur: Have you ever been liberated before?
Col. Robert Stout: I got divorced twice, does that count?
Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur: That counts.

Korvessa11 Sep 2014 6:42 p.m. PST

dBerczerk – that's the one

I have to agree with DontFearDaReaper. I too can now smile, after many years. But I'll pass on this particular game.

John the OFM11 Sep 2014 7:36 p.m. PST

Played the real life game once, not the rpg or the collectible card game.
No need to play it again.

From Hot Shot! Part Deux:

Rufshaad: I can see you're no stranger to pain.

Col. Denton Walters: I've been married.

Rufshaad: Ah.

Col. Denton Walters: *Twice*.

Rufshaad: Oy!

SWMBO is half Swedish and half Danish and a strong non-believer in divorce. I expect her to kill me in my sleep any time now …

They say, if you've never been divorced and want to know what it feels like, find someone you hate and buy her a house.

Clays Russians24 Sep 2014 7:00 a.m. PST

I played it about 15 years ago, I'd rather take my chances at Verdun than go thru that again……… Tuscaloosa, that was brilliant
