"Did you see Godzilla and feel disappointed by the dearth of, well, Godzilla? In case you missed our look back at Pop Culture's 6 Biggest Losers This Summer, we lamented the lack of resonance the latest ‘Zilla had with audiences. The look was cool, the cast was impressive, and director Gareth Edwards delivered a well-crafted, respectable film. But the thing is … we didn't get enough of the damn monster! Thanks to intrepid YouTubers like John Nemesis, however, you can now watch a super cut of all the minutes Godzilla spent on screen in his latest theatrical outing. And if you're short on time, don't worry—it's only eight minutes long! Yeeeeaaahhh. That shakes out to 6.5 percent of the movie's overall run time…"

That shows 7 minutes. Honest Trailers say 11.

I think the dearth of the Big G worked because it builds anticipation and tension. The slow reveal lends the movie suspense and as such people have been comparing it to 'Jaws.' Too much gratification too soon would not have given the movie the same impact.

+1 28mm Fanatik. Less can be more and I think the big payoff is when MUTO #2 gets it. Boom goes the dynamite.

It'd be interesting to compare the screen time to Big G in the original Godzilla, I don't think it'd be much different, though the percentage would be off because Godzilla 1954 is a shorter movie. Also with Alien/s, the ants in Them, the original King Kong.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Most of the classic Godzilla films have a slow build and this modern incarnation was an homage, after all.

I'm guessing the 1998 version had more Big G screen time – further evidence that less is more. . . way more!!

Hell yes I did! And I say that as a fan of original Godzilla too; certainly the classic Godzilla movies from the 70s and 80s featured a LOT more Godzilla. If they make a sequel the only way they will get my money will be if there is more of the Big G in it. Otherwise I'll just wait for Pacific Rim 2.

never did see that witch in Blair Witch. Still scared the snot out of me the first few times.

Blair Witch reminded me of a bad LARP. I could just sense the GM/director just behind the camera whispering "You see this. Now go with it!"
