Sumerian Chariots in 6mm

Remember back in 2005, when I promised pictures of those Sumerian chariot stands in 6mm?

It has taken me rather a long while to finish these but finally I have completed the last unit of bronze shields, the first of which I painted back in the mid '80s

They look really good.
It's always a good feeling finiahing a project. Three decades is a bit of a gap though!

Simon, very well done. Did you drill their hands for brass pikes? Excellent work on the linothorax.

I have some old Minifigs of similar vintage, they tend to stay in the cupboard now, horizontal pikes mean a very large movement tray! Awkward to have them in line with current phalanxes.

RP did some nice stuff. Shame on you though – there's always meant to be an unpainted phalanx in the cupboard.

Excellent job.. and I second your point, the Ral Partha 'hypaspist' labeled figure is a gem and holds up to any figures of today… except in size. I still use mine side by side with more modern large and chunky phalanxes to keep me grounded…

Impressive! I too love those figs…

No need to as the hands come open with a handy little notch in the shield as well
