These figures are beautiful, look at all that detail. It's getting really hard not to buy these figures. My lead piles are still large, I don't need to start a plastic pile. Oh what fantastic miniatures!

Yes great looking figures.
Yet, I think I will go for (early) Republican Romans first.

Very nice looking figures. Still havn't managed to get my hands on the Romans yet . This will be the third week wait to get them from my local shop.

That's the only problem with the figures is that people want them today and don't like waiting! :)

Ordered my cavalry from Aventine just in case the infantry aren't in again this week.

Glad you enjoyed them too my friend.

Is it me, or do the spears seem less bulky than those of their Republican Romans, a little more proportioned?

Their models get better and better.

Mithridates09 Sep 2014 4:56 p.m. PST

Interesting about the spears, shorter than the ones shown earlier for the Veterans if memory serves me right.

Sprue shots in due course would be good.

Those guys look very tempting.

What is the best intro guide for tactics and organization for the Punic wars?

Huevans011,
If you can find a copy of Duncan Head's "Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars" that's probably a good start. There are also plenty of Osprey books on the Punic Wars ("Carthaginian Warrior" and the "Punic Wars" Campaign book by Osprey and even having the Roman army of the Punic Wars book might mention enemy tactics). I play a WAB-type game so Allen Curtis' "Hannibal and the Punic Wars" is a great resource for both sides of the wars. I'll bet there's a ton of even better sources that people will pipe in with shortly.
