Hey, fellow gamers! I'd like to take a moment and tell you about a great product from a little company called Cigar Box Battle. The guys at CBB make the best gaming mats I've ever seen! They're beautiful, one-of-a-kind images printed on high quality fleece. The fabric is strong and durable with the edges sewn to increase longevity. The two I purchased are simply gorgeous! I have one of the "Grassland" mats and one of the "Desert" mats. They're suitable for any number of gaming periods from Ancients to WWII, Fantasy to Sci-fi and are usable with a variety of scales. They have a nice selection of patterns and are constantly working on new ones. They'll even work with you to design one specifically for your personal needs. They look great used with 3D terrain pieces or you can just use them as they are. The designs are that nice. They fold up for easy storage and when you're ready to use them, just take them out, unfold them and lay them on the table with nary a crease or wrinkle! Yes friends, they don't crease, they don't wrinkle and they don't get those little fuzzy "pills" like other types of cloth. They currently come in two different sizes and they're reasonably priced! And talk about customer service…..these guys wrote the book on customer service. They're long-time gamers, themselves, and they understand what we need and want in gaming paraphernalia. It's a pleasure doing business with CBB! So, if you're in the market for a gaming mat, or if you've ever thought about buying one, follow the link below and check out Cigar Box Battle and their fine selection. Even if you don't think its something you'd ever buy, you should at least give them a once-over. You won't be disappointed. link |

I was playing a game, drinking some beer, and, well smoking cigars with the guys from CBB tonight. I got a sneak peek of what they have in the works, very good stuff. I own two myself, and when the next wave hits, I will own more. Orcbuddy, I think one was made just for you. If you get a chance, you should look at what they have. And, well, look again soon, more stuff is on the way. |

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering how ridged the fabric is. Is it like canvas or more flexible like fleece? -Bryan |

The fabric is very flexible and drapes well over foam to make hills. Also doesnt wrinkle. I'm very happy with mine. I wish they could make even larger versions but apparently 6x4 is the limit |

Beautiful mats. I am probably going to pick some up myself. The desert and snow options look very intriguing. |

Thanks. I may check to see if they can supply me a sample of their Fabric. I agree with the size. I would prefer my mats to be 6'X9'. Bryan |

Thank you all for the comments! We always love to hear feedback, and get your suggestions. General btsherman – 2 mats laid side by side with the long sides touching would create a space that was slightly bigger than 6x9. I would suggest that you get mats without roads, because the layouts are not made to connect that way. The limits in our manufacturing process limit us to our current size. SPOILER ALERT!!! Wave 2 mats will be available for purchase in the next few weeks! wave 2 will consist of the following mats: WW1 – muddy terrain with artillery blasts Starfield – for outer space games Tropical terrain – palm trees and hills; inspired by San Juan Hill Battle of Nashville – ACW or alternate wooded setup A Special Release mat for our DBA enthusiasts! Muddy Barren terrain Winter with No Roads |

Do figures normally snag on fleece as they do with felt? Dan |

Thanks Chris, I just ordered one of your grassland mats. If it looks like it will fit my needs, I will order another one in the very near future. May I also suggest offering a winter grassland mat? This mat should be just like your grassland mat but with dry dormant grass. No snow. A mat like this will be very useful for ACW battles that take place during the winter like Pea Ridge, Belmont and many more. I also have another idea that could be very popular with ACW gamers, but I want to test it out before I suggest it. |

Dan, I haven't had any problems with my figures getting snagged on the fleece. My figures are based on 3mm wooden bases. |

I am currently waiting for my European mat to arrive, the postage cost to the UK was very reasonable too. If it is half as good as it looks on the website I will be a very happy chap indeed! |

Great looking product, would be nice if you could do some custom sizes (I have a 5x9 table for example). |

Would it be possible for someone to post a few pictures of these in use with some figures on them? Thank you in advance. |

Very nice looking! Hopefully more mats minus roads. I need larger surfaces, like 6 X 8 and 6 X 12 so that rules out the mats with roads. But really like what I see! |

I looked at the pictures with figures and they look pretty good. I am still going to want to put things like trees on top though so I personally would prefer the wooded areas to have a picture of a forest floor rather than a top down view of the trees, but that is just my opinion. |
