Just had a look at the 2014 Zvezda catalogue and the following sets are listed as New for 2014 AND in 1/72 scale: Russian Dragoons Russian Dragoon Command Group French Dragoons French Dragoon Command Group Russian Infantry Command Group French Infantry Command Group Russian Foot Artillery French Foot Artillery I'm hoping these will be big sets and not 1/72 scale Art of Tactic!! |

oh and French and Russian Line Infantry too. |

and another closer look reveals that they may indeed be Art of Tactic in 1/72 but the tab on the side of the page reads Series 1/72 so hopefully they'll be big sets. |

I've been very impressed with their AoT Samurai, but they are certainly priced at a premium. |

they will surely be small AOT style sets else why would there be separate command sets? Also they already do Russian (two sets) and French artillery so they must be something different… |

I could not find this listing, but they've already, long ago, released large sets of French and Russian Foot Artillery. That gives me the impression that these will be AoT sets, very disappointing and VERY overpriced. |

These new sets were listed almost at the very end of a PDF catalog that somemone posted on Benno's site. Yeah, they'll probably be AoT…sigh… |

Well, the command sets might be worthwhile. Can you provide a link to the source of this info? I can't seem to find it. |

Those sets will be good to round up units and get command sets for boxes that don't include them, or there aren't enough included. |

I just hope they're sets with lots of figs. Would like some dragoons. |

Thanks, Sev. I found the listing. It looks to me like the mini-sets. Probably three figures per. Time will tell. |

Sadly, by the numbers they will not be big box format – guess they make more money selling the game and small boxes. Real shame, but if they are nice then I will use them for oddments. Sadly, if they follow the WW2 poses, I imagine they will not be much use for large battalions. But we can dream, can't we. |

Curious to see what they will look like. |

Well, the pics are encouraging and their past record has been excellent, so I think we will be pleased – it will be the pricing, numbers and pose number that will hurt – I see two cavalry in a box, which at £3.00 GBP UK is just too much for plastic figures at this scale (or metal come to that). So I may buy the command, but I cannot see me making regiments, which is a shame as I used to buy a fair few boxes of Zevezda stuff, and they have lost out there. I used to get 19 cavalry for around £6.00 GBP-7, so 2 for £3.00 GBP just does not work. Same with their WW2 – I may (may) buy the odd box for speciality figures (ie minesweepers) but not for rank and file. And Napoleonic figures are for the large part "rank and file" So perhaps a missed opportunity to some of us – which is a shame. |

I see three figures drawn for the cavalry command sets – officer, trumpeter, standard bearer. But I wholeheartedly agree with Marc. It's just a shame they quit making the large sets. I also see myself buying the command sets. The greatest shame is that they had scheduled a French infantry set in the pre-Bardin uniforms – WITH GAITERS. This would have been the only accurate such set. But no matter how much money I may have, buying whole units with only three or four poses, at Zvezda prices, is out of the question. |

Green Tiger – if you look at the illustrations provided, the infantry and artillery sets look like figures taken from the existing large sets. NDG. |

Oh how I agree with the shame of it all – the box art for teh French was clearly destined for a full set, and it would have been great (and matched with the light infantry set for elites maybe…). But it is clearly not to be. I guess their new game system works just fine witha few figures, rather than the old game they had that seemed to use larger units. And yes, I imagine the artillery will be copies (although the scans of the Russians are not from the grenadier set – again, were these once destined for a big set as originally advertised). A crying shame |

Worse – it looks like the French voltigeurs are discontinued (as are Russian artillery for the GNW range) – the death march of Zvezda begins |

Russian infantry command sets would be ideal. I'd buy several as I have piles of Zvesda big box Russian infantry without command. You only got the one stand in the big box: not nearly enough for the 40+ figures of enlisted men. |
